Reference Chart

The colorful illustration draws your eye to the separate headings to facilitate an understanding of the different ways that Sedimentary Rocks can form.
It targets the sedimentary rocks most commonly used on student reference tables and diagrams. Keep in mind that there are many more rock names that can fit into each of the categories.
Note that the diagram does not take into account particle size or composition, both of which are important in a complete study of the Rock Type.

An Adobe Acrobat version of the Quick Reference Chart is available. E-mail Geoteach for the file.
It is already part of the Adobe Acrobat .Pdf version of this entire online Formation of Sedimentary Rocks series of documents, also available by request.
